Non-cooperation in Bahria Town Case – SC Expressing Anger on NAB

 

On Monday, SC, Supreme Court, criticized the administration of Bahria Town, Pakistan Space and National Accountability Bureau NAB and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission in not implementing the ruling of the apex court and showing “non-cooperation”.

 

The respondents were warned by Justice Azmat Saeed that the judges were angry. On Bahria Town case, Justice Azmat was chairing the hearing of three member implementation bench.

The judge asked NAB to show the progress in the form of actions. NAB prosecutor was asked by Justice Saeed to give the reason for not submitting the report on Bahria Town. The time frame of three months was already given to them still there wasn’t any development.

Non-cooperation in Bahria Town Case and NAB Prosecutor

NAB prosecutor made an emotional appeal that the case was different. The judge further stated that no cooperation was shown from NAB’s side.

The judge highlighted the issue that the accountability watchdog did nothing, although the separate joint interrogation team has done its investigation in Bahria Town case, Karachi.

The judge also stated that action should be taken against NAB under the contempt of court. Justice Saeed then mentioned that he knows that Major General is the director general of Sparco and has ordered him to be there in court in the next hearing.

The counsel of Bahria Town named Ali Zafar is advised by Justice Saeed that he should ask his client to cooperate with the court.

Although Malik Riaz might be held responsible for the allottees’ rights in case they are affected but still, there is hope for better terms and an appropriate solution might appear in the form of cooperation with apex court.
